Pledge to talk to everyone who cares for your baby about the Period of PURPLE Crying.

Frustration with a baby's crying is the number one trigger for shaking. By letting others know that crying is normal, you can help stop infant abuse. April is Child Abuse Prevention month. Help us bring an end to Shaken Baby Syndrome by pledging to talk to everyone who cares for a baby about the Period of PURPLE Crying. Those who pledge will be entered into a drawing for $10 grocery gift cards donated by Harmons Grocery Stores.

Spread the word by using the "Share" button above.

What is the Period of Purple Crying?

Did you know all healthy infants go through a phase of increased crying between 2 weeks and 4 months of age? Even healthy babies can cry for up to 5 hours per day. This perfectly normal developmental stage is called the Period of PURPLE Crying.

I saw a PURPLE Crying brochure in a resource catalog after returning to work as a new Mom. I was drawn to it because we described my daughter's recent crying personna as her "purple-baby eye-ball plucker" routine. She literally screamed and scratched at her face/eye area. I loved the time graph that was on it, showing how normal it was for many babies to go through this. Thank you. I've already told many people, and shared the brochure with hospitals and Family Centers.
