Support the PURPLE Program

The Period of PURPLE Crying educates parents and caregivers about the normalcy of increased crying in all infants which begins around two weeks of age, peaks at about two months and levels off at four-five months.  This is important information for parents and other caregivers because frustration with a child's crying is the most commonly cited reason for why a child is shaken and abused.

Shaken baby syndrome is a devastating form of child abuse which occurs when a person forcefully and violently shakes a baby.  The PURPLE program was created to help prevent this devastating form of abuse by helping parents and caregivers understand their baby's crying and provide them with tips to handle their frustration when caring for an inconsolable crying infant.

The National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome (NCSBS) works with hospitals, doctors, health departments and many others across the country to distribute the program free of charge to parents and caregivers.  This is only possible because of the support we recieve from people like you.  Please help us continue to provide this life-saving program free of charge to others by making a donation to the NCSBS.
